West Brom assistant coach Graeme Jones will not be leaving the Hawthorns as he his linked with a move to take over as Luton Town manager, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The journalist, who has a notable record when it comes to breaking news, claims on his personal Twitter account that the 48-year-old, who joined the Baggies in the summer after working for Belgium in their World Cup campaign, is set to remain as the Daily Mail name him as a front runner for the vacant Luton job, Nathan Jones having left for Stoke City.

It is said that Jones is not wanting to leave for a managerial role in League One at this moment in his career and as such Luton’s pursuit will likely end with him remaining where he is.

Opinion

Taking that step up from coach to assistant boss to first team manager is something that most, if not all, backroom staff would like to do at some point in their careers but it has to be the right job at the right time. Jones obviously does not feel Luton is the right place to take that leap into the managerial world and kudos to him for that. He is an experienced coach both domestically and on the international stage and it was easy to see why Darren Moore wanted him as part of his backroom staff for this campaign in the Championship. It is also easy to see why Luton might want him to take over in their dugout and give him that chance to prove himself as a number one. For now, it seems as though a stay at the Baggies is what he wants, although he might well find himself with more propositions as managers find themselves on the chopping block over the next couple of months.
