Leeds United have been hit with another major injury blow, with the news that Stuart Dallas will be out for six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in training.

The news was confirmed by the official Leeds Twitter account on Monday morning.

Dallas was expected to make his comeback today for the Under-23s, but will now miss a big chunk of the rest of the season.

OPINION

You really couldn’t make this up. Stuart Dallas was set for his return in the Under-23s today after being sidelined since December 1. However, he will now be out for six weeks, which will mean it will be mid-March before he can return for the Under-23s and April before he’ll be considered for the first-team. Dallas offers the sort of versatility that would have been really key to Leeds in their run-in to the Championship season-end. He also becomes the third Leeds player to have broken down after comeback, following Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown. Questions surely have to be asked about the rehabilitation programme at Leeds, although we haven’t got specific details about Dallas’ latest setback. It’s the latest in a very long line of injuries this season, with manager Marcelo Bielsa last being able to pick from a full squad in pre-season.
