Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has decided to reject an offer to join UAE side Al-Wasl, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claims that the 33-year-old has turned down a £38,000-a-week deal that was tabled to him by the Dubai-based club.

It is understood that Al-Wasl are not the only option that Brown has had with Western Melbourne, Kansas City and Seattle Sounders also tabling offers for the Bhoys captain, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

OPINION

It will be a massive shame for Celtic if Brown was to leave the club this year. His contract expires in the summer and judging by this Daily Record report, he is giving serious thought to packing his bags and heading Down Under to join Western Melbourne. The A-League newboys have been linked with Brown for quite some time now and it is clear that they are very interested in signing him. It would be a nice way for Brown to wind down his playing career by moving to Australia and Melbourne would be an amazing place to live. It’s understandable that he rejected Al-Wasl as moving to Dubai would be a major culture changes whereas joining clubs in Australia or the USA would be a lot easier. Brown hasn’t quit Celtic yet though and Brendan Rodgers need to try and get him tied down for one more year. His leadership qualities will be massively missed if he goes.
