Marcelo Bielsa accidentally revealed that Swansea winger Daniel James is a Leeds United transfer target in his hastily arranged press-conference on Wednesday, according to the Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper claimed via it’s print version [page 63, January 20] that a “secret file” about James, 21, was visible on Bielsa’s laptop as he lectured the press about his pre-match preparations.

It is understood that Swansea are yet to decide whether they want to cash in on the one-time Wales international as chairman Huw Jenkins would rather move on some of the club’s big-earners first, such as Wilfried Bony and Luciano Narsingh.

The Swans will not listen to offers for James while they remain at the club.

Good move for Leeds?

James should be a good addition at Elland Road.

Leeds could do with extra strength in depth added to all parts of their squads, and James would provide very good back-up in the attack.

The 21-year-old winger has been impressive this season, earning 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and supplying four assists.

He earned his debut cap for Wales in November, so it is pretty clear that this is a player with a big future ahead of him and he could one day be Premier League quality.

Likely to happen?

Bielsa definitely seems keen on James judging by that file on his laptop.

However Swansea seem reluctant to cash in on the young winger at this stage in the January transfer window.

It could be that James is moved on later in the month if the Swans struggle to offload their big-money players, so there is still a chance that Bielsa could get his man.
