Young Celtic attacker Jack Aitchison has joined Alloa Athletic on loan for the rest of the season, according to Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard.

It has been claimed on their official Twitter account that the 18-year-old has agreed terms with the Scottish Championship club, however neither of the clubs involved have confirmed anything as of yet.

Alloa’s official Twitter account has suggested that they are close to signing someone who could be playing in their Scottish Cup clash with St Mirren on Saturday.

Good move for Celtic?

Aitchison is not going to get into Brendan Rodgers’ first team plans, especially now that he has signed Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo as back-up options to Odsonne Edouard.

If Rodgers still hadn’t signed any strikers then Aitchison might have been in contention to play against Aidrieonians on Saturday in the Scottish Cup, however that is not the case and he will now spend the rest of the campaign at Alloa.

It isn’t a bad move for him, especially as he failed to score in four league games while on loan at Dumbarton in League One earlier this term.

Celtic will just be happy if he is getting game-time somewhere.

Likely to happen?

Clyde 1 seem confident enough to say that this deal is done, even though it has not been confirmed by Celtic or Alloa on their official social media channels or websites as of yet.

There is no reason for them to post this without having the confident that a deal is done, so expect some sort of announcement before the end of Friday.
