OPINION
Gareth Barry is 37 years old and still bossing games for West Bromwich Albion. His age is admittedly beginning to show but the seasoned midfielder was at the top of his game on Friday as the Baggies came from behind to beat Sheffield United 2-1 in a crucial Championship encounter. Starting his second game in a row, Barry and Jake Livermore controlled the midfield so well for Darren Moore’s side, who showed brilliant character to fight back from David McGoldrick’s 12th-minute opener. Barry even got himself on the scoresheet, equalising for the Baggies just before half-time as Kieran Gibbs’ second-half piledriver saw them home with a valuable three points. Barry obviously cannot play every single game for West Brom, but on this evidence he simply must play whenever he can. His experience is set to be invaluable for Moore and his side heading into the business end of the season. These fans below were obviously ecstatic with Barry’s display, and rightly so, with the veteran leading the way in a hard-fought victory.
