OPINION
Ryan Jack has established himself as a mainstay of the Rangers team under Steven Gerrard and news in the last 24 hours that he has penned a new contract until 2021 has gone down very well with the faithful. Supporters are mainly delighted that Jack has further committed himself to the club after playing some of the best football of his career this season. In essence, Jack has signed only a 12-month extension to the initial deal he agreed when joining from Aberdeen in the summer of 2017. But it is a statement of Rangers’ desire to keep their key players happy that the central midfielder has a new deal, on what is likely to be improved terms as well. Jack has made 23 appearances this season and has emerged as the first choice in the middle of the pitch, with his energy, industry and ability to win the ball and distribute it shrewdly winning over the manager. Fans, too, are also pleased, as they show in reaction to Sky Sports broadcaster Jim White’s tweet about the player’s new deal.
