OPINION

Olivier Ntcham was awful in the opening period as Celtic went into the break against Rangers 1-0 down and struggling to stem the blue wave. While the home side rose to the occasion and produced possibly their best 45 minutes of the entire year, never mind just the season, the visitors were not at the races. Ntcham, paired with Scott Brown in central midfield as Callum McGregor dropped back to left-back to fill in for the injured Kieran Tierney (who started the match on the bench due to a hip problem), was off the pace and summed up the lack of intensity in the visiting side’s play. The Frenchman has been mediocre since early autumn but reached a new nadir in the Ibrox cauldron. Celtic fans were seething at his appalling first half, with many calling for him to be subbed immediately and others saying he should be heading out of the Parkhead exit door.
