OPINION

Conor Hourihane seems to be a hero one week and a zero the next week for Aston Villa, with the Republic of Ireland international never seemingly anywhere in the middle. This week he was a zero among fans as they rescued a 2-2 draw against Stoke at Villa Park on Saturday. Hourihane seemed to occupy a more advanced position for the Villans, who had to make do with star man Jack Grealish, who is injured. That new role did not suit the 27-year-old at all, with Hourihane toiling all game for Dean Smith’s side. In the end they had super sub Jonathan Kodjia to thank as the Ivory Coast international came on to score one and assist another for Tammy Abraham as the points were shared. Villa have not really managed to push on after some impressive results under Smith in November, with two consecutive draws seeing them lie in eighth in the table, three points off the play-off spots. Fans were not impressive with Hourihane on Saturday, and there reaction below tells you all you need to know.
