Ian Wright has been gushing over West Ham attacker Robert Snodgrass for reinventing himself this season after returning from a season-long loan at Aston Villa.

Snodgrass, 31, is currently one of the most in-form players in the Premier League and has been a major reason as to why the Hammers have won their last four games in a row.

Arsenal legend Wright is especially thrilled with the Scotland international’s form, admitting that it was a tough start for him at the London Stadium when he came in to replace Dimitri Payet in January 2017.

“I tell you who I’m really pleased for is Robert Snodrgass,” said Wright on BBC 5 Live Sport on Monday night.

“He came in after Payet went out and Snodgrass has had a real hard time.

“He said he’s worked on his weight and he was overweight, when you watched him as a footballer, he’s a really good footballer, excellent footballer.”

OPINION

Snodgrass arrived at West Ham at the wrong time but as soon as he got into the groove on loan at Aston Villa, it was clear that he was a player with Premier League ability. Now we are starting to see the Snodgrass that was on fire at Hull City before the Hammers signed him, and when the flying Scotsman is on-form, he is a joy to watch. In the last four games of which the Hammers have picked up 12 points from, Snodrgass has scored two goals and supplied three assists. He is undroppable at the moment and that is crazy to think when you consider how he was treated during his first few months at the London Stadium. Luckily the club’s hierarchy appears to have gotten itself in order over the summer and that has translated down to the management and to the players. Well done West Ham fans, it may have taken some drastic measures, but the club is finally starting to give you what you wanted.
