Samuel Saiz’s wife Elena Milla has thanked the Leeds United fans for their support during the playmaker’s time at Elland Road after it was announced he will be joining Getafe in January.
The Mirror has reported that one of the main reasons that Saiz has decided to quit the Whites is because he and his pregnant wife wanted to return to Spain.
It was understood that they were struggling to live far away from their families in Spain, and it appears as though the midfielder’s wife has confirmed that homesickness was the case via her personal Instagram account.
“Thanks Leeds for this wonderful year and a half,” she said on her Instagram story. “Living away from your family and city is always very hard, but we have felt very loved there.
“Good luck and I hope to see you in Premier [League].”

Saiz is a good player and will always be remembered by the Leeds United supporters but at the end of the day family comes first for him and his decision to want to return to Spain cannot be held against him. Saiz was extraordinary for the Whites last season. Amid all the duds that Victor Orta and Thomas Christiansen signed, Saiz was a stand-out. He quickly established himself as one of the best playmakers in the Championship and without him, Leeds would have finished much lower down the table. Marcelo Bielsa still saw the quality in Saiz but the emergence of Mateusz Klich overshadowed the Spaniard and that may have led to him being dropped from the starting line-up. That could have also played a role in Saiz’s decision to leave but his wife coming out and saying this confirms that it was mainly a family decision for him to go back to Spain. Hopefully he can continue to smash it with Getafe.
