Andy Walker has predicted that Rangers will win 2-1 against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Light Blues lost their spot at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after the 0-0 draw at Hibernian on Wednesday, but ex-Celtic star Walker is clearly backing Steven Gerrard’s men to bounce straight back to winning ways in Perth.

He has heaped praise on Alfredo Morelos for his display in the goalless draw at Easter Road earlier this week, but is hopeful that he is able to find the back of the net this weekend against the Saints.

“Impressive performance against Hibs but too many missed chances. has to find that killer instinct again,” said Walker on the Sky Sports website.

OPINION

Rangers have been finding it hard to score lately and their 0-0 draw at Hibernian was about as frustrating as it gets. The Light Blues had so many chances to take the lead but they really lacked a cutting edge in what was actually a very strong performance. On any other night the Gers may have won that game, so Gerrard will be hoping that luck is on his side at St Johnstone on Sunday. Walker is right about Morelos. The Colombia international was one of a number of players who performed very well in Leith, but for a player in his position, he needs to be sticking the ball in the back of the net. Tommy Wright has had his team playing well lately but they should not be as tough to break down as Hibs were. Rangers should win this one fairly comfortably and it is a boost for them that Celtic play against Dundee 24 hours before. No matter what happens in that game, the Gers will know that they will either have to win to keep up with their Old Firm rivals, or win to go top.
