Leeds United’s head of medicine and performance Rob Price has delivered the great news that Izzy Brown’s latest injury setback is completely separate from his long-term knee injury and that the latter blow is “absolutely fine.”

The Whites have been waiting for the Chelsea loanee to be available for action after signing him in the summer when he was still undertaking his recovery from the serious setback suffered last season.

Yet to play for the senior side, Marcelo Bielsa confirmed the midfielder would be missing for some time due to an injury blow but Price revealed it has a hamstring problem keeping him on the sidelines and that there was no suffering when it came to his knee.

He told LUTV: “Izzy’s had a little setback with a hamstring. His knee’s absolutely fine.

“It’s disappointing. It’s unexpected because we didn’t want it to happen, but actually it’s a training injury rather than anything from his rehab.”

Opinion

The worry from Leeds fans would have been that Brown had suffered some sort of setback when it came to the recovery from his knee problem, which could have left him fighting another battle to return to full fitness. While a hamstring injury is not ideal, it is far from the worst case scenario and probably will not put him too far back when it comes to his original return date. Fans are dying to see what the Chelsea man can bring to Elland Road and while injuries have plagued his time at the club so far there will be hope that he can overcome his issues and stamp his authority on the Leeds side. With Samu Saiz having left on loan, there is a notable void in the attacking midfield department and Brown will be expected to plug the gap when he finally finds himself without any setbacks. Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping that comes sooner rather than later.
