Teenage striker Troy Parrott has travelled to Leicester with the Tottenham first team squad ahead of today’s (Saturday) Premier League showdown at the King Power, according to the Irish Independent.

The newspaper claims that the 16-year-old rising star is not expected to make Mauricio Pochettino’s bench, but he has been promoted to the senior squad after making such a fine start to life in England.

The Republic of Ireland youth international joined Spurs in the summer and has scored 11 goals this season for the club’s Under-18s side.

OPINION

Parrott is obviously a very gifted young player and it says a lot that Pochettino has allowed him to travel with the squad to Leicester. Harry Kane is Spurs’ number one striker at the moment with Fernando Llorente second choice and Vincent Janssen nowhere to be seen. Parrott could become Spurs’ third-choice striker if he continues to work hard in the Under-18s and make a good impression when training with the first team. He will get a good taste of what it is like to be a Premier League footballer at Leicester and that will make him even hungrier to impress when he plays his next youth game. By the end of the season, Parrott could make his senior debut if Spurs’ campaign is wrapped up early on. The FA Cup could also be a good place for him to make his mark considering Spurs have an easy Third Round draw.
