Tottenham are in talks with Swansea about terminating Cameron Carter-Vickers’ loan deal early.

The 20-year-old USA international centre-back has made just eight league appearances for the Championship side and Tottenham want to move him on to another club in January, according to a reliable source.

Lilywhite Rose, a Twitter account that regularly breaks Tottenham news –  including the shattering injury to youngster Luke Amos – made the claim on Monday lunchtime.

Lilywhite Rose added that the plan was to terminate the Swansea deal and then send him back out on loan to Ipswich, where he made 17 appearances last season.

OPINION

It doesn’t sound like Tottenham have a recall clause in January and it will come down to talks between the two clubs. Carter-Vickers has only played eight games but the problem is he’s featured in the last four games and played 45 minutes in the 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Tottenham obviously want him to be playing as a starter – he’s only started four games for Swansea – and the Welsh club will have to weigh up their own need for Carter-Vickers with wanting to stay on the right side of a Premier League club who could be a valuable source of players in the future. Carter-Vickers is a current USA international and there are high hopes for him at Tottenham but he seems to still be a way off the first-team. Pochettino has had his issues with injury there this season but obviously doesn’t see the 20-year-old as part of his plans currently. Carter-Vickers had a better time at Ipswich, where he played all but two of their Championship games in the second-half of the season.
