Tottenham midfielder Luke Amos will miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury, according to a club insider.

The Lilywhite Rose Twitter account, which has consistently broken major news about Spurs, reported on Tuesday that Amos, 21, has suffered knee ligament damage and will remain sidelined for the rest of the campaign.

Amos picked up the injury last Friday while playing for the Under-23s against Blackburn.

OPINION

This is a crushing blow for Amos and for the Spurs fans who were excited to see what the midfielder could do this term after a promising pre-season in the first team. Amos made his senior debut for the North London club on the opening day of the Premier League season against Newcastle when he came off the bench in the second-half, but since then has had to make do with playing in the Under-23s. He has done well in Premier League 2 and this knee injury has come at the worst time possible for the up-and-coming midfielder. Spurs have plenty of injuries in the first team at the moment and Amos could have been in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans over the coming weeks. He has now missed that chance and who knows what other chances over the rest of the campaign. Hopefully Amos’ knee injury doesn’t see his progression stall in anyway and he returns to action next season in good shape. If not, it could be a very sad story for the youngster.
