Rangers haven’t given up on bringing Millwall’s giant centre-back Jake Cooper to Ibrox but may wait until the summer to go in for him again, according to Daily Express journalist Bruce Archer.

In a follow-up report, the Express claims that after making a number of bids in the summer, the last one for £3million, Rangers are set to go back in again for the 6ft 6in giant despite Millwall’s refusal to do business.
They claim that chief scout Andy Scoulding watched Cooper play for Millwall against Bolton last month and filed a report to Steven Gerrard.
Millwall are concerned that they will lose the player.

Rangers made a number of bids for Cooper in the summer and Gerrard is still obviously keen on landing his man. Cooper has been a shining light for struggling Millwall again this season and the 23-year-old is only under contract until 2020. That means that Millwall could be tempted to cash in, especially if they get relegated from the Championship. They’re currently third from bottom after 20 games. He won’t be cheap though. Millwall reportedly rejected a £3million offer for him in the summer and it will take at least that much to get him next year. It doesn’t sound like it’s one for January though and with Millwall in a relegation battle they’re not going to want to lose their best defender. Rangers fans will love that the club is thinking so far ahead and would love to see Cooper at Ibrox. He’s a strong, commanding, no-nonsense centre-back who would be the perfect replacement for Joe Worrall, who’s likely to go back to parent club Nottingham Forest at the end of his loan.
