Rangers struggled to an extremely poor 1-1 draw against ten-man Dundee on Sunday, with very few players emerging with any credit.

Manager Steven Gerrard’s despondent reaction after the game illustrated just how frustrated he is becoming with his squad, who seem to take one step forward and two steps back every few weeks.

The Gers had topped the table with a big win over Hearts last weekend, but then lost a winnable fixture against Aberdeen in midweek before somehow failing to dispatch bottom club Dundee at Dens Park.

One player who put in a frustrating performance against Dundee was winger Eros Grezda, who is becoming a more regular fixture in the side after his return from injury.

The Albania international was signed from Osijek for £2million in the summer, and has now made nine appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Grezda started against Dundee and looked lively at times but ultimately put in another flat display and failed to stake his claim for a regular starting place.

However, if you hadn’t seen the match and looked on Twitter after the final whistle it would have seemed as though Grezda had put in a nightmare performance, which most certainly was not the case.

The tricky 6ft winger [Transfermarkt] was below-par, there is no doubting that, but there were several players on the pitch who were much, much worse than him.

Obviously his lack of real form since making his debut is a frustration for fans, but the Ibrox faithful must be patient with the 23-year-old as he gets fully acclimatised to Scottish football.

This is a player who has the ability to make Ibrox erupt when he comes good, and they will be singing his name on the terraces when that happens.

For now though fans must be patient with the young winger, as there is no point making a whipping boy out of a player who is still finding his feet in a new country.
