Hibernian defender Darren McGregor has claimed that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is worth at least £10million.

The Colombian international has built on an impressive debut season at Ibrox last time out with a stunning campaign to date this term, and McGregor is in awe of the 22-year-old.

“Morelos has come into his own in the last year and a half,” he told the Daily Record. “I remember him being talked of as a £10million player and I was thinking, ‘Is he really?’

“But now justifiably he’s potentially worth more. His work ethic, his goalscoring record speaks for itself.”

OPINION

Morelos has certainly been turning heads this season. The youngster has been hugely impressive in his second campaign at Ibrox, taking on the mantle of Rangers’ leading man with aplomb and outplaying his fellow attacker Kyle Lafferty by a significant margin. For an opposition player to praise him in this way tells you just how good he’s been, and it’s no surprise that he leads the Scottish Premiership scoring charts at this stage of the season. The big challenge for Steven Gerrard’s side will now be to keep hold of the striker because he has surely impressed some bigger clubs this term. The manager would hate to lose him but if a team does come in offering over the £10million price tag McGregor has quoted then it will be very difficult for Ibrox chiefs to say no. However, if they really want to keep making progress then Morelos has to stay in Rangers blue for the foreseeable future.
