Personal talks between Celtic duo Brendan Rodgers and Kolo Toure with Paris Saint Germain striker Timothy Weah handed the Hoops a massive boost in sealing a loan deal for the young hitman, according to RMC Sport.

The French news outlet, as relayed by Get French Football News, claim that the senior Bhoys men have both held discussions with the 18-year-old over making a temporary move to Parkhead and that their efforts have seen him agree to a deal in principle.

It is stated that a number of clubs made a move to try and sign the PSG man but that Celtic’s personal touch made the difference and that a medical is all that needs to be done for a deal to be completed.

Opinion

Having the ability to convince players with a personal approach is absolutely massive for Celtic and it shows just how well revered the likes of Rodgers and Toure are among world football. The Hoops desperately need some reinforcements up front and it seems as though Weah will almost certainly be one of those making their way to Glasgow to try and bolster the options available to Rodgers. Does he have what it takes to make a real impact at Parkhead? That remains to be seen as he is more a star of tomorrow than someone who is already tearing up European football, but the fact he is playing on occasion for a club of PSG’s stature proves he definitely has something about him. However, the last Celtic loan signing of a prodigious youngster from a European giant – Charly Musonsa – did not go to plan and the Hoops will be hoping Weah can offer much, much more than the Chelsea man did during his ill-fated spell at the club.
