Rangers winger Glenn Middleton shared he was desperate to improve the club’s recent record against Celtic in the near future and Steven Gerrard should grant his wish to make a difference as soon as possible.

The 18-year-old opened up on how huge it was for him to feature in an Old Firm Derby and clearly hinted that he’d love to take part in one in the near future.

“[My Old Firm debut] was massive for me,” Middleton said, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.

“Obviously I’d have preferred the three points, but at the same time it gave me a taste for it, and I’m desperate to change things in the future.

Rangers are due to host Celtic at Ibrox on December 29th and Gerrard should look to play Middleton in that game as he could be a very positive influence for them.

The teenager clearly has the determination to well in his favour but his performance against St Johnstone showed how useful he could be for his team.

Middleton replaced Eros Grezda in the 46th minute of Sunday’s clash with St Johnstone when his side’s opponents were 1-0 up and played pivotal part in flipping the game on its head.

The winger was constant a lively threat and then whipped in the perfect cross for Alfredo Morelos to fire home to make it 1-1, and this of course put the momentum in the Gers favour which saw them eventually emerge 2-1 winners.

It’s far to say Middleton wowed against St Johnstone as soon as he came on, he made such a big difference that helped lift everyone around him.

The game against Celtic will be a tough and close encounter but if Gerrard grants Middleton’s wish to feature then it might see the match fall in the Gers’ favour.

The teenage sensation has been on the fringes of the Gers’ squad all season, shown by the fact he has made 11 appearances but only completed 90 minutes twice, and he more than deserves to feature against Celtic after his outing against St Johnstone.
