BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus heaped praise on Celtic’s Ryan Christie, despite Brendan Rodgers’ men dropping two points to Motherwell on Wednesday night.

Christie has been in sensational form in recent weeks and he scored his fourth goal in five games on Wednesday night, putting the visitors ahead after 13 minutes.

McManus went onto Twitter to say that it was a “brilliant run and finish” by Christie who “is playing out of his skin”.

OPINION

Christie had another brilliant night on Wednesday but it’s a shame the same couldn’t be said about all his Celtic colleagues. A late goal conceded meant that Celtic missed the chance to go back on top of the league and stayed behind Rangers on goal difference despite Steven Gerrard’s side slipping up against Aberdeen. It was really wasteful in a game that they should have won easily. Results like this could come back to haunt them in a season where they might not have everything their own way, as they’ve been accustomed to in recent seasons. Kilmarnock went top after beating Livingston and Rodgers will have to work out why his team – a top quality outfit on their night – are struggling in so many games this season. As for Christie, it’s been a stunning transformation for a player who has been sent out on loan three times since joining Celtic and who only made his first league start this season in the sixth game of the campaign. He’s undroppable at the moment.
