OPINION
Who’d be a goalkeeper. Make a mistake at the other end of the pitch and it’ll be forgotten as soon as you score your next goal.
It’s not so easy for a goalkeeper. Make a mistake and you’ll be pilloried until the memory fades.
And Hugo Lloris has made some howlers recently. Howlers that Tottenham fans seem to have seared on their retinas.
There’s no doubting that on his day he’s one of the best keepers in the world though. And he had one of his day’s on Wednesday night against Southampton, most notably when he pulled off a world-class save from Hojbjerg’s fantastic strike.
In a weird game, notable for the half-empty stadium and the lack of atmosphere, Tottenham cantered to an easy 3-1 that took them back to third in the league.
But the heroics of Lloris kept the scoreline comfortable for Tottenham and he should have been rewarded with a clean sheet, but conceded at the death.
That takes none of the gloss off his display tonight and Tottenham fans were more than happy to give credit where credit’s due.
Here are the best reactions to Lloris’ display at Wembley:

Should have kept a clean sheet, but a huge 3 points considering the Chelsea and Arsenal results. Lloris my MOTM- was spectacular tonight. Up to 3rd in the table! ?#COYS

Hugo Lloris looking back to his best for Tottenham Hotspur.
A wonderful stop in the first-half to deny Hojbjerg in what looked like it was going to be a certain goal.
Then following that up with a magnificent triple-save in that second half.#THFC #COYShttps://t.co/wOtarHhT6b
