Celtic legend Davie Hay has said that he is certain that the Hoops will enjoy a successful and exciting January transfer window led by Parkhead chief Peter Lawwell.
The Bhoys were left frustrated in the summer with the likes of Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Dembele leaving the club and not many top quality signings made to help bolster Brendan Rodgers’ side.
However, in a rave review on club chief Lawwell, Hay insisted that things would be much more exciting in the new year as he tipped the senior figure and Rodgers to work together and make the right sort of signings to strengthen the side.
He wrote in his column for the Evening Times: “While Peter Lawwell does not kick a ball or pick the team, he has been as pivotal to the success of the club as anyone. He is intelligent, has a sound business plan and more than that he is a Celtic man. What he does in terms of the decisions made have the best interests of the club at heart.
“As we head into another transfer window, I am sure that there will be targets and I also suspect that the club will come out of the window stronger than when they went in.
“That comes down to the manager and the chief executive working together and I think you will see that over the next couple of months.”

Lawwell came under heavy fire over the summer for the way the Hoops managed themselves in the transfer window and understandably so. They looked a lot weaker at the end of the off-season than the start and that is why they did not look as dominant in the early stages of the campaign. Things have obviously improved but there is still much room for the Bhoys to strengthen and you can be sure that is what Rodgers will be looking for heading into January. He and Lawwell will have been having many talks about who to target not only in the upcoming window but in future markets to ensure that they remain a competitive side for years to come. Hay is right to laud Lawwell for the impact he has had during his time in charge but failure to improve form here will tarnish his reputation significantly. He cannot allow that to happen.
