Wolverhampton Wanderers will attempt to keep their momentum rolling when they travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side picked up a huge 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday night as they recovered from a worrying run of results of late.

Newcastle also secured a decent result in mid-week with a 1-1 draw at Everton, and Nuno must consider whether he keeps faith with the team that beat Chelsea or rings the changes.

He will likely largely do the former, with just two players expected to drop out. Romain Saiss and Morgan Gibbs-White will surely make way for Ruben Neves and Helder Costa.

Rui Patricio is the undisputed number one, of course, and will almost certainly remain between the sticks, while Matt Doherty and Ruben Vinagre are firmly established in the wing back slots with Jonny out injured and will surely start here.

The back three has remained in place throughout the season and there is no reason to think that will change at St James’ Park. Ryan Bennett, Conor Coady and Willy Boly can all expect to start on Sunday.

Neves sat out the win at Molineux in mid-week but will likely be recalled for this one. Saiss did a decent job against the Blues but Neves is a different calibre of player and his partnership with countryman Joao Moutinho in the middle of the park will surely continue against the Magpies.

Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez were both on target against Maurizio Sarri’s side and will likely keep their places as a consequence. Gibbs-White, on the other hand, will probably miss out. The 18-year-old played well on Wednesday but Costa’s attacking thrust should see him installed on Sunday.
