There is no doubt that Celtic would be running away with the Scottish Premier League if their strikers were netting on a regular basis.

However, that does not seem to be the case with the Hoops, with Leigh Griffiths looking particularly out of form this season.

In his Daily Record column, Chris Sutton highlighted one of his main concerns in the Celtic team – and it does not take an expert to work out that the attack is what is worrying him at the moment.

“I think Celtic will win the league but I can’t say I’m 100 per cent certain. That’s down to the strength of the league and areas of concern in the Celtic team, particularly up front,” he said.

In light of these comments, Celtic should consider signing on-loan West Brom striker Dwight Gayle when his spell at the Hawthorns expires in the summer.

Anybody who has watched the Baggies in action this season will tell you that the 28-year-old has been in red-hot form, grabbing ten goals in 18 Championship appearances.

Hoops supporters would no doubt erupt at the thought of such a prolific striker joining their ranks, and the title would certainly be guaranteed next term with his capture.

Griffiths has looked off-the-pace and he cannot be relied upon to suddenly turn his form around, while Odsonne Edouard is still developing and cannot bear the sole burden of scoring.

Swooping for Gayle would transform the team in a blink of an eye, and his form alone would mean that he would have no trouble slotting into the starting XI on a regular basis.

Brendan Rodgers knows what it takes to be successful with a team like Celtic, so he would be crazy not to heed Sutton and pounce for a player taking the second tier by storm.

It is over to you now, Rodgers.
