It’s fair to say that Celtic fans were unimpressed with their team’s first-half display against Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday. Remarkably, Neil Lennon’s side were ahead against his former club after just 46 seconds, when Vykintas Slivka cut in from the flank and danced past Jozo Simunovic to slide a shot into the far corner. One of the players held culpable for that goal and a first half performance from Celtic that was markedly mediocre was Emilio Izaguirre. The defender was handed just his sixth appearance of the season in the absence of Kieran Tierney and was used in a left wing-back role as Brendan Rodgers reverted to the three-man defence he regularly used earlier in the campaign, with Jozo Simunovic, Kristoffer Ajer and Filip Benkovic in the centre-back positions. But Izaguirre struggled as Celtic went into the break 1-0 down and many fans were highly critical of his performance.
