Whatever Rangers end up achieving this season, there is no doubt that manager Steven Gerrard will return to the drawing board in the summer.

After all, this has not been the perfect season for the Gers, so Gerrard will need to address some issues to ensure that his team are fully equipped for the new campaign.

One thing he could do to equip his team with the tools they need to be successful is by bringing winger Joe Dodoo in from the cold in the summer.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan at League One side Blackpool, and has recently enjoyed some success of his own by winning the club’s Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards with his stunning form.

Scoring five and setting up three goals this season is not bad for a player who has 15 appearances to his name, nine of them coming in the league.

This is a remarkable transformation in form from Dodoo, as he was struggling to get into the team earlier on in the season, but one thing is for sure – he has certainly caught the eye of Gerrard.

Since joining Rangers in 2016, he has struggled to impress every manager that has been in the Ibrox hotseat, which resulted in him being frozen-out and farmed out on loan to Charlton Athletic for the first half of the 2017/18 campaign.

However, considering his contract with the Gers does not expire until 2020, there is still time to prove himself, and Gerrard must reward him with this opportunity when he returns in the summer.

The manager is lacking some quality in the final third and Dodoo may just be the player to come and relieve him of that issue after blowing everyone away at Blackpool.

Sending him out on loan yet again would be the worst thing Gerrard could do and he must avoid this scenario at all costs, as Dodoo could end up being a revelation at the club.

Yes, it is a risk – but it is a risk worth taking.
