Steven Gerrard needs to have a very good think about recalling Greg Docherty in the January transfer window because the Rangers midfielder has been in great form while on loan at Shrewsbury this season. The 22-year-old scored his seventh goal of the season for the League One club against Peterborough on Saturday and that led to a raft of Gers fans urging Gerrard to recall him at the next available opportunity. With Rangers’ midfield failing to look any good in the last few fixtures, it makes a lot of sense. It also makes sense because there has been speculation and rumours about Ovie Ejaria returning to Liverpool. Docherty is young, he is playing well and most importantly he is Rangers’ player. Looking at Lassana Coulibaly and Ejaria’s recent displays, it is clear that Docherty would be an improvement. You have to agree with these fans because the “on fire” midfielder would walk into Gerrard’s midfield right now.
