Tottenham fans have shown an astonishing interest in touring the club’s new stadium since the new scheme was launched this week, according to the Times.

The newspaper claim the north Londoners have sold more than £2,000 vouchers at £30-a-head “for tours of the new ground in the four days since they were launched on Tuesday”.

The Times report Spurs have also received inquiries from “tens of thousands of fans” about the availability of tours around the new White Hart Lane.

OPINION

As far as Tottenham followers are concerned, the new stadium represents a bright and exciting future. Wembley, on the other hand, as Danny Rose so forthrightly and eloquently pointed out this week, has long since lost its novelty value. The national stadium has become a place where few Lilywhites particularly want to be. Just 33,012 of them attended Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Southampton as supporters fed up with a second-rate matchday experience voted with their feet. By contrast, they can’t wait to check out the new 62,000-capacity venue that is said to make the national stadium look very old hat, indeed. While it may grate with some that Spurs are profiting to such a degree from the delays and setbacks that have prevented the grand unveiling – February is now being mooted as the most likely opening date – the anticipation and excitement around the new home is building.
