Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews hailed Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson as “out of this world” following his sensational recent form.

The 21-year-old forward has scored a glut of wonder goals while on loan at Derby County and is emerging as one of the outstanding players in this season’s Championship.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of their live coverage of the West Brom-Aston Villa clash on Friday evening, Andrews explained how Wilson has not looked back since a memorable free-kick against Manchester United in the League Cup.

“He’s not just a set-piece specialist but that wonder goal at Old Trafford was probably a catalyst for his form this season,” the former midfielder said. “In recent weeks he has been out of this world with assists, late goals. We can see the left foot he has. He can play in any of those three positions behind the striker. Very, very talented player.”

OPINION

Sky showed a compilation of Wilson’s eight goals this season on Friday evening and there is no denying they are breathtakingly good. Along with teammate Mason Mount and West Brom’s on-loan Leicester sensation Ashley Barnes, the Liverpool attacker is one of the best youngsters in the English tier and looks to have the talent and mentality to be a true Premier League star of the future. His pace, directness, technical ability and Mohamed Salah-esque left foot mark him out as a real handful and, under Frank Lampard, he is playing for a manager at Derby who believes him and is getting the best out of a rough diamond with the potential to be a shining gem. It is vital he stays at the east Midlands outfit for the entire season rather than heading back to his parent club in January. Wilson needs regular game time at this key point and he is not yet ready to play for Liverpool, who have some world-class attackers blocking his first-team path.
