OPINION
West Ham were all over Newcastle in this 3-0 loss, but at the end of the day, the visitors deserved the win through some excellent attacking play. It was clear to see that the Hammers had spent more money in the summer as Felipe Anderson really came to life in this match by causing DeAndre Yedlin all sorts of problems. Perez, however, was absolutely woeful and wasted the goal opportunities he was presented with. Turning in even one of those chances would have got the Magpies back into the game, but he was not capable. One fan commented on how he should be spending time on the bench in the next few games, and it is hard not to agree with them, especially after how wasteful he was – Newcastle simply cannot afford to have players like him on the pitch. He poor display was further reinforced by the fact that one supporter said that he would rather start Ciaran Clark as a striker rather than Perez – which goes to show just how ineffective he was on Saturday.
