It is brilliant to see such a big reaction from Newcastle fans to the news that centre-back Florian Lejeune made his return to competitive action for the Under-23s against Norwich on Monday night. As reported on the club’s official website, he Frenchman completed 45 minutes in a 2-1 win for Ben Dawson’s side, with goals from Cal Roberts and Rosaire Longelo seeing them home. Lejeune’s return to action caps a remarkable recovery which has seen him recover from an extremely serious knee injury in just about six months. Usually an injury like this takes a couple of months longer, but Lejeune has obviously taken all the right steps in rehab and that is paying dividends for him now. These Newcastle fans are obviously ecstatic to see him back in action, with Lejeune being one of the club’s standout performers following his arrival from Eibar last season. Hopefully he can now step up for the first-team as we head into the Christmas period, with these fans going wild at the prospect of that happening.
