For much of the season so far the future of Everton winger Ademola Lookman has seemed uncertain, with the youngster remaining on the fringes at Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a highly successful spell on loan in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig last season, and despite heavy speculation about a permanent move to Germany, such a switch never materialised in the summer.

That looked to have unsettled Lookman at the start of the new campaign, with some minor injuries further curtailing his progress at Everton.

In recent weeks however Lookman has come to the forefront for the Toffees, with some impressive substitute displays capped off by a first Premier League start of the season against Newcastle last Tuesday.

Manager Marco Silva has regularly praised the youngster for his attitude, and has admitted he is getting closer to regular starts with his work behind the scenes [Liverpool Echo].

However, as the January window approaches there are still some unanswered questions about the youngster’s future, with Lookman obviously keen for a platform to display his talents on a weekly basis.

His keenness on a move to Germany in the summer seemingly opened the door for Leipzig to potentially come in for him once again, but the latest development now closes that door almost shut.

As quoted by Sport Buzzer, Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick had this to say about the situation: “I think it is very unlikely that it would be feasible for us [to sign Lookman] in the winter window.”

Rangnick’s comments here are pretty definitive, and mean that Lookman is now highly likely to remain at Everton until at least the summer.

Considering his recent breakthrough the youngster will likely be happy with that, but he must now buckle down and continue to blow Silva away with his hard work and raw talent.

Everton offer him a huge platform to progress and reach his potential, and he must make the most of that with his move to RB Leipzig looking increasingly off the cards.
