Galatasaray are set to make a second bid for Liverpool striker Divock Origi after their opening offer was rejected, according to ESPN FC.

The football site claim the Turkish big hitters are keen on signing the Belgium international in the January transfer window as they look to reinforce their attack.

ESPN FC report Liverpool are likely to green light a loan exit for Origi next month but are eager for him to be closer to England.

Good move for Liverpool?

No. Origi’s Anfield career seemed dead and buried a few weeks but his sensationally-timed Merseyside derby winner has breathed new life into it. Liverpool have huge ambitions for this season as they prepare for a ding-dong title race with Manchester City as well as the last-16 of the Champions League. They need all their proven goal-getters and, although Origi is behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri in the pecking order, he could still have a major role to play in the second half of the season. There is no sense in loaning him out when he can be such a potent bench weapon.

Likely to happen?

Much depends upon the interest in Origi in the next six to seven weeks. Galatasaray may well eventually prove to best the best option, but that is unlikely. Liverpool are more likely to sell the Belgian forward on a permanent deal – a £25million price has been mooted – than offload him on a loan deal.
