OPINION

It’s fair to say many Liverpool fans were unhappy with the performance of Jordan Henderson as their team continued their outstanding start to the season with a 3-1 win at Burnley. It was certainly not a plain-sailing triumph, as the scoreline might suggest on a filthy night at Turf Moor. The Merseysiders were disjointed in the opening period after making eight changes to the side that beat Everton 1-0 last Sunday but came from a goal behind to secure the win that lifts them back up to within two points of Manchester City through goals from James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri. Henderson, who was restored to the starting XI as the midfield enforcer after missing the Merseyside derby through suspension, played the full 90 minutes of the fixture. But many supporters were unhappy that he failed to control the midfield and his distribution for much of the match was lacking in ambition and precision. With Henderson and Fabinho effectively playing for one position, there was anger that the England international still has such a key role.
