OPINION

There were some magnificent performances from Liverpool players at Anfield on Tuesday night as Napoli were beaten 1-0 in a match that should have ended with a far more convincing scoreline. Virgil van Dijk was a colossus, Mohamed Salah the matchwinner and Alisson the saviour. Shout-outs to Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Joel Matip, too, as they were all outstanding. But one player who gets less of the credit in general and often goes under the tag of “unsung” is Andrew Robertson. The Scot who was playing second fiddle to Alberto Moreno this time last year, has had a quite remarkable 12 months and his performance against Napoli was perhaps his best yet in a major fixture. Robertson was everywhere, bursting forward to support attacks and overlap on the left, as well as providing crucial expertise in defence through interceptions, blocks and his ability to spot danger. Liverpool fans are gushing over a player they rate enormously.
