Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino after a dazzling display against Arsenal.

After the visitors had taken a shock lead through Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Firmino turned the game on its head with two goals in the space of two minutes.

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker was moved to tweet after the Brazilian, saying “Bobby at his bamboozling, brilliant best. Bravo.”

Lineker posted the tweet during the first-half of the game at Anfield and returned later to deliver a four-word verdict on Liverpool calling them “Inspired, incisive, imaginative, inventive”.

OPINION

Firmino hasn’t been at his best this season but it’s testament to the depth of attackers in Jurgen Klopp’s team that any one of his power three, and new signing Xherdan Shaqiri, can turn a game in an instant. It was Shaqiri against Man United and today it was Firmino. It’s an embarrassment of riches for Klopp and the win today takes his side nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, after Tottenham lost 3-1 to Wolves. It’s an incredible turnaround at the top of the table, with Man City, for so long seemingly unstoppable, now having to play catch-up after a disastrous December. Liverpool are now favourites to win their first Premier League title and ensure that Klopp becomes a true legend on Merseyside. They seem like a match made in heaven at the moment. As for Arsenal, they were absolutely woeful at the back today.
