Tottenham have the next Harry Kane and Dele Alli coming through the club’s ranks, according to a Football London journalist.

Alasdair Gold, who covers Spurs full-time for the Reach site, reported how impressed he was by the promising youth-team partnership of striker Troy Parrott and attacking midfielder Paris Maghoma as he covered the Under-19s in action against Barcelona in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon.

Maghoma, 17, set up the opening goal for Parrott, 16, as Tottenham went 1-0 ahead in the first half in the clash in the La Liga giant’s academy stadium, the Mini Estadi.

Gold hailed the teenagers for “showing glimpses of being a junior version of the Kane/Alli combo” that has made such a huge impact for the first team.

OPINION

It is a huge claim that any two youngsters could be the next Kane or Alli, two world stars capable of walking into most teams on the planet. Certainly, the England skipper has few equals while Alli has achieved a huge amount at the age of 22. That said, there is plenty of excitement being generated by the next crop of Spurs youngsters. Centre-forward Parrott is so highly rated he travelled with the senior squad for the first team for last Saturday’s Premier League clash at Leicester City, although he did not make the substitute’s bench. With his confidence no doubt flying through the roof, the teenager further enhanced his reputation with his 12th goal for Spurs’ age-group sides this season. His reputation will continue to soar if he keeps banging in the goals. Maghoma played on the left side of a midfield three for the Under-19s on Tuesday, coincidentally the same position as Alli at Leicester, unselfishly setting up Parrott for the opener. He is a very exciting young talent.
