Everton have wasted no time in getting their January business done early – although the first notable deal coming out of Goodison Park actually sees Kieran Dowell head out on loan to Sheffield United, as confirmed on the club’s official Twitter account.

The six-month long loan move has had the Goodison Park faithful raving on social media, with many expressing their delight at seeing a hot prospect getting the game time they evidently feel he deserves. He had only managed to make two appearances for the first team this season and was struggling to even make the bench and so heading out to Sheffield United, who should be able to offer him significantly more playing time in the Championship, is a move which works for all parties involved. Of course it will be no cakewalk for the 21-year-old but having played in the second tier already, he knows exactly what to expect in the new year. The Toffees fans will likely be keeping a very close eye on his performances and hope he can develop enough to force his way into the first team reckoning come next season.
