Everton are considering a January move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, according to the Daily Mail.

The England international has been in red-hot form this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions, and has been linked with a £30 million move to Chelsea, also according to the Express.

It is understood that the Toffees are thinking of rivalling Maurizio Sarri’s side, however, as they look to finally end their hunt for a dependable striker.

If a bid for the 26-year-old is unsuccessful, it is believed that Marco Silva’s side could make an approach for Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi, as the Blues consider cancelling his underwhelming loan spell with Valencia.

Good move for Everton?

Yes, in a word. If Everton can land Wilson they will finally have that top quality striker they have been calling out for since losing Romelu Lukaku, and will look a whole lot closer to a die that can challenge for the top six. Saturday’s loss to Brighton highlighted just how underwhelming in front of goal the Toffees can be, and for all of their quality creative players in attacking positions, they lack the penetration of a natural centre forward. Wilson would be a great fit for this Blues side. He is willing to run in behind and stretch a defence, but is also unafraid of coming short and holding up play to bring this around him into the game. What signing he would would be for Everton.

Likely to happen?

It seems that Chelsea are heavily interested in signing Wilson, and if that’s true, Everton might not get a look in. Bournemouth won’t want to let him go at all, but if he is going to leave, a move to a so-called ‘big club’ makes a lot more sense than a move to a side just one point ahead of the Cherries in the table. This could be Wilson’s only opportunity at making that next step, and a move to Everton at the moment feels more lateral than progressive.
