Chelsea need a striker badly. Alvaro Morata has shown glimpses of the player he can be since joining the Blues for around £60 million, but with not nearly enough regularity to justify his role as chief goalscorer.

Similarly, Olivier Giroud has lacked a sustained clinical streak since his move from Arsenal, and looks increasingly redundant as Chelsea continue to adapt to the fluid, technical playing style of Maurizio Sarri’s philosophy.

For the Londoners to really thrive they need a striker who can guarantee them 20 goals a season, and they should seriously consider making a move for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.

Disrupted by injuries, the England international has still managed to establish himself as one of the most consistently deadly forwards outside of the top six, and has more than earned an opportunity at the top table.

He is quick, technical, and a nightmare for defenders, whether he is running in behind or playing in front of them. At 26 he is just entering his prime, and with eight goals in 15 league appearances so far this term, he is playing out of his skin.

Just imagine how good he could be with the likes of Eden Hazard and Jorginho supplying him…
