Granit Xhaka has divided opinion among the Arsenal fanbase since signing in the summer of 2016. His classy touches and range of passing gets them drooling sometimes, but the central midfielder’s propensity for errors, poor tackling and erratic decision-making also infuriates the faithful. Restored to the starting XI against Huddersfield on Saturday after missing the midweek 2-2 draw at Manchester United, Xhaka had a hit-and-miss opening half at Emirates Stadium against the relegation candidates. He was booked for diving during an opening period littered with yellow cards for players on both sides. This did not go down well with many Arsenal fans, who claimed he was “disgustingly poor” after a “nightmare” opening 45 minutes as Unai Emery’s side once again went into the break without a lead. Supporters won’t care if they extend their 20-match unbeaten run with a second home win in consecutive weekends.
