Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Brighton centre-forward Aaron Connolly, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that a lot of clubs are interested in signing the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Celtic, QPR, Millwall and Hoffenheim.

It is understood that Brighton would consider letting Connolly, 18, leave on loan, however the striker could quit the AMEX on a permanent basis due to the lack of first-team opportunities for him in the Premier League.

Good move for Leeds?

Connolly has been in lethal form for Brighton’s Under-23s this season, scoring 16 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.

It is crazy that he has only ever made a couple of first team appearances for the first team, but in the Premier League not many young players get much of a chance to shine which is why Leeds would do well to sign him.

Connolly is a great young prospect and would be a very good addition for the Whites, but right now, he is not someone that they need.

Likely to happen?

Not at all.

The Scottish Sun reports that Leeds could be priced out of a move for Connolly and with so many clubs interested in him, the chances are that he will head to someone like Celtic as there are more first team opportunities for him there.

Leeds do not need a new striker anyway as Marcelo Bielsa is likely to just focus on his defence in the January transfer window.
