Jermaine Jenas was drooling over Tottenham left-back Danny Rose, claiming that he was “sensational” in the 1-1 draw with Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

Spurs booked their spot in the last-16 of the Champions League by earning a point in Catalonia whilst in Italy, PSV’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan also contributed to a fine night for Mauricio Pochettino and his players.

According to ex-Spurs star Jenas, two of the players who stood out most were Rose and Christian Eriksen.

“Some big performances tonight. Danny Rose was absolutely sensational from left-back,” Jenas said on BT Sport 3 after the game on Tuesday night.

“Eriksen, especially as he dropped into the deep midfield position, there’s not a pass that he can’t find when he is in that type of form.”

OPINION

It wasn’t just the fans who were impressed with Rose’s display against Barca then. The left-back had one of his best performances for Tottenham in a very long time when he played a blinder at the Nou Camp this week. It is surely a no-brainer for Pochettino to play the England international over Ben Davies in upcoming big games because Barca really struggled to cope with his attacking display down the left-flank. Rose could have actually won the game for Spurs in the late stages when he blasted a chance over the bar, but that can be forgiven now that qualification is won on what was a historic night in Spain for the Tottenham fans who made the trip. Pochettino and his players will have learned a lot from that game and one of the main things the Spurs boss should now know is that Rose is back to his best. What a performance by him.
