Huddersfield are negotiating a compensation fee to sign Tottenham left-back Jaden Brown, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Monday [11:06am] that Brown, 19, wants to quit the North London club and is in talks to join one of Spurs’ Premier League rivals as his contract winds down.

It is understood that the teenager’s current deal at Tottenham expires in the summer and he is ready to leave so that he can earn first-team football elsewhere.

Good move for Tottenham?

Brown has never made a first team appearance for Spurs and while he is tipped to have a promising career, the chances of him ever breaking into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans are zero to none.

Spurs already have good left-back options in Danny Rose and Ben Davies, as well as Kyle Walker-Peters who can also play there as a back-up.

Brown’s deal expires at the end of the season so Tottenham may as well cash in on him now in the hope that the compensation fee that Huddersfield have to pay is higher than what they would in the summer.

Likely to happen?

It shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Huddersfield to strike an agreement with Tottenham, unless Daniel Levy has the final say on the eventual settlement.

If not then the deal will go to a tribunal once the player is out of contract at the end of the season, but whether it happens in January or in the summer, Brown does appear as though he is heading to Yorkshire.
