The Leeds hierarchy and manager Marcelo Bielsa have come to terms with losing one of their star players, Samu Saiz, to Getafe, according to a reliable journalist.

Phil Hay has claimed that as Saiz is set on leaving, the club do not feel it’s worth keeping hold of him.

He added that Bielsa has personally “approved his exit” adding: “He tends to be very philosophical about these things.”

Hay, senior reporter with the Yorkshire Evening Post, made the claim on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon.

OPINION

Well, things certainly seem to be moving very fast as Samu Saiz prepares to move back to Spain. After only 24 hours of it first being reported it seems like this is almost a done deal, with the manager personally approving his exit. This is a good thing. The very worst that could happen is that Leeds try and cling on to the player and cause unrest at the club over an extended period of time. If he’s that unsettled then he needs to go and good luck to him. He’s brought some creative genius to Leeds but for whatever reason his stay seems to be at an end. We wouldn’t be surprised if it’s got something to do with Bielsa. He’s a manager who asks a lot from his players, both in terms of attitude and commitment, and he obviously hasn’t been getting what he wanted from Saiz. That much was obvious when he lost his place in the first-team and now Bielsa doesn’t seem sorry that he’s leaving. For Bielsa it’s all about the club, the football and the results. The players, like the manager, are all cogs in the machine and have to play their part. If Saiz can’t and didn’t like being dropped, then making sure he goes as soon as possible is great club management. Now the team – without Saiz – need to produce a big reaction against Bolton tomorrow.
