Celtic must make an audacious attempt to try and sign Tammy Abraham from Premier League giants Chelsea in the January transfer window with Brendan Rodgers in dire need of a new centre-forward.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Bhoys are “in the market” for another striker in next month [Daily Mail] and Odsonne Edouard’s injury sustained in the 3-0 win against Motherwell on Wednesday night could mean that the Glasgow giants need someone new in the door as soon as possible.

Luckily, a proven goal machine from south of the border might be available next month.

According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea could consider recalling Abraham, 21, from his loan at Aston Villa in order to cash in on him and fund their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.

Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are understood to be interested in signing the two-times England international, but Celtic must also make sure they are in the running for Abraham’s signature because he would be a seriously good addition to their attack.

Not only would Abraham provide a solid layer of depth at Parkhead, he would surely become the number one option to start up front thanks to his clinical form in the English Championship this season.

Even though Aston Villa aren’t in the play-off spots right now, Abraham has managed to score 12 goals in 16 league appearances for the West Midlands club, with eight of them coming in Villa’s last six games.

It may cost Celtic a club record fee to sign Abraham, with Your Local Guardian reporting that Chelsea have slapped a £10million price-tag on the striker’s head, but he will definitely be worth it and that value could more than double before the end of the season if he continues his fine form in the Scottish Premiership.

If Chelsea do recall Abraham then it seems like he will have a number of options.

He could either join Newcastle or Palace and fight a relegation battle in the Premier League.

Or he could head to Celtic, challenge for the Scottish Premiership title, the Scottish Cup title, a third domestic treble in a row and compete in the Europa League knock-out stages.

It doesn’t sound like such a tough choice when you put it that way.
