OPINION
Jozo Simunovic has not played a lot of football this season, but that was no excuse for how poorly the 24-year-old defended for Celtic in their 2-0 loss against Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday. Some Hoops fans have absolutely annihilated the former Croatia Under-21 international, especially after Hibs opened the scoring in the first minute of the game. Simunovic got nowhere near Vykintas Slivka before he scored past Craig Gordon, and that kind of set the tone for his entire game. The former Dinamo Zagreb defender has played 13 times across all competitions for Celtic this season, with injuries, suspension and the form of his team-mates keeping him out of the side. However Brendan Rodgers should not play him again because it is clear that the Bhoys are worse off when he is on the pitch. One fan has called for the Hoops to “discard” Simunovic, and with the transfer window close to re-opening, we think that would be a wise decision.
