A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to rave over the display of midfielder Ovie Ejaria in the 7-1 win against Motherwell on Sunday.
The Gers took Motherwell on at the Ibrox and Scott Arfield got the hosts off to a brilliant start by netting in the early stages of the first half, before Motherwell equalised not long after through Curtis Main – but James Tavernier ensured a lead going into half time by netting from the penalty spot.
Alfredo Morelos netted Rangers’ third late on into the second half with a powerful header, before Arfield grabbed a second and Glenn Middleton got in on the act, with Eros Grezda also grabbing a brace.
However, despite a promising display from Steven Gerrard’s side, fans were quick to praise the performance of rising star Ejaria, with some comments including “superb” and “pages ahead”.
COMMENTARY
The 20-year-old managed to get off on a good start against Motherwell, and he managed to carry that on throughout the duration of the match. Yes, some fans may admit that he is prone to making many mistakes, but that can be forgiven with a player so young. He clearly has a bright future ahead of him, whether that is with Rangers or if he manages to impress at Liverpool when he returns from his loan. He is the bright spark that Gerrard needs in the midfield, but he must start being more consistent. Ejaria cannot just turn his form on and off like a tap – if he is going to have a good match, then he needs to have the ability to carry that on. However, it is safe to say that Rangers have found themselves a real gem this season, so fingers crossed that Gerrard makes the most of him.
